On Oct. 19, at approximately 10:50 a.m., Baltimore Police Department officers responded to the 300 block of West North Avenue to investigate a call for a pedestrian struck.
Upon arrival, officers were advised that a 66-year-old male was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle westbound in the 300 block of West North Avenue. As he lay injured in the street, a second vehicle struck him a second time.
The first striking vehicle fled the scene, and the driver of the second striking vehicle stayed on the scene. Medics transported the 66-year-old male to the University of Maryland Medical Center, Shock Trauma, where he was later pronounced deceased despite life-saving measures.
The Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) was summoned to the scene and assumed control over the investigation. Next-of-kin notifications will be made.
