On Sept. 20, Devonta Hunter-Bergess and his defense attorney, Issac Klein, rejected a plea offer during a reception court hearing before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Hunter-Bergess, 28, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime and discharging a weapon in Baltimore City in connection to allegedly shooting a 25-year-old male on April 12. The incident occurred on the 1000 block of Wildwood Parkway.
Hunter-Bergess rejected the prosecutor’s plea offer for life, suspending all but 25 years, with five years of supervised probation for attempted first-degree murder, with a concurrent sentence of 20 years, with the first five years without the possibility of parole, for firearm use in a felony violent crime. Hunter-Bergess would also have been required to stay away from the witnesses and register as a gun offender.
Judge Phinn set a trial date for Feb. 6, 2024, before Judge Lynn Stewart Mays.
