Prosecutor Dismisses Charges Against 19-Year-Old Defendant in Rodman Way Attempted Murder Case

A defendant accused in an attempted murder case had his charges dismissed by the prosecutor before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer on the morning of Aug. 23.

According to defense attorney Andrea Jaskulsky, Judge Schiffer accepted the dismissal of defendant Kendrick Barksdale’s case shortly after the hearing had begun.

The reasons for the dismissal are unknown to Baltimore Witness. 

Barksdale, 19, was charged alongside his codefendant, Leonidas Solanos-Campos, for a total of 28 charges, ranging from attempted first-degree murder to carrying a handgun in relation to an incident that occurred on Sept. 10, 2022.

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, on the day of the incident, Barksdale and Solanos-Campos, 23, were accused of shooting at a man on the 1000 block of Rodman Way. Documents state that the shooting happened after the suspects engaged in an argument with the victim, who was in his parked vehicle at the time.

As reported by Baltimore Witness, while Barksdale’s charges were dismissed, Solanos-Campos was granted bail on Feb. 22 by Judge Schiffer. Since the trial postponement this was the last update on Solans-Campos case. 

According to Baltimore Witness, Barksdale and his co defendant were scheduled to start trial on June 26, but it was postponed due to the prosecutor being ill on the original trial date.
