On July 28, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn continued a hearing to determine defendant Davon Wright’s trial date for later this summer.
After a hearing in the Baltimore Juvenile Justice Center on Aug. 14, Wright, 22, and his attorney, Michael Cooper, will return to reception court on Aug. 21 before Judge Phinn to schedule the jury trial.
According to court documents, Wright is accused of shooting one round into the victim’s car after she ran into Wright and another man with the vehicle. Wright claimed he did not want to shoot at the victim’s car, but he told detectives that “everyone around him continued to yell at him to do it.”
The victim had only minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital for treatment.
Wright is charged with first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in the commission of a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun in his vehicle, discharging a firearm, and malicious destruction of property under $1,000 in connection to a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred on the 5200 block of Cuthbert Avenue on Feb. 5, 2022.
