Defendant Charged With Committing 2020 Murder Remains Incompetent to Stand Trial

On July 5, during a mental health court hearing, defendant Dandre Woods-Bethel was found to still be incompetent to stand trial according to a report from Clifton T. Perkins Hospital.

The report further detailed that Woods-Bethel, 27, is dangerous and is also a danger to himself and others.

In connection to the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Julie Rice and 23-year-old Michelle Green that occurred on Sep. 12, 2020, Woods-Bethel is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder, five counts of using a firearm in a felony violent crime, three counts of attempted first-degree murder, and one count of having a handgun on person.

According to CBS Baltimore, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a ShotSpotter report on the 2800 block of Clifton Park Terrace around 6:36 p.m. Upon arrival, two women were found suffering from gunshot wounds. Both women were transported to the hospital where they later died from their injuries. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin stated that Woods-Bethel will remain committed. The next annual review hearing is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2024.
