Circuit Court Judge to Review Sentence Reduction Request for Non-Fatal Shooting Defendant

Defense counsel Donald Wright addressed the court on behalf of his client in hopes of getting him a sentence reduction before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeffery Gellar on Sept. 15.

Wright made a request for a sentence reduction by a year for his client Terrence Myers on Thursday, in addition to a request for a referral to the youth offenders program. Wright also that the case be held sub-curia for a sentence modification.

Wright attested that while incarcerated, his client has gotten his GED and plans on going to school to get his CDL.

After listening to counsel, Judge Gellar granted defense counsel’s requests for a written referral for the defendant to a youth offenders program. He continued saying he would consider reducing the defendant’s sentence by a year if he completes everything required of him while incarcerated.

On Sept. 15, 2022, Myers, 24, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree assault in connection to an incident on Aug. 20, 2019. Giving the defendant a sentence of 25 years suspending all but 18 years with five years supervised probation.

According to court documents, on the day of the incident, officers were called to the 2200 block of Perring Manor Road at 4:29 p.m. On arrival, officers found the two victims suffering from a gunshot. One victim sustained a gunshot to their right arm and the second victim suffered a gunshot to their left leg.
