A Baltimore woman accused of shooting a 26-year-old man in May was scheduled for trial this coming May after rejecting a plea offer from the prosecution on Dec. 13.
Cowanda Mills, who is represented by defense attorney Gil Amaral, is facing multiple counts of attempted murder, assault, and three weapons charges.
During reception court before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn, Mills rejected a plea of life, suspending all but 40 years, and five years of supervised probation for attempted first-degree murder; and a concurrent 15 years, the first five years without parole, for firearm use in a felony violent crime.
Judge Phinn scheduled a trial date of May 9, 2023.
According to the Baltimore Police Department, Mills, 26, was arrested around noon on the 2000 block of Bryant Avenue after allegedly shooting the victim during an argument. Citizens held Mills in the area until police arrived.
