Judge Postpones Sentencing for Convicted Attempted Murder Defendant

On Oct. 5, a 37-year-old Baltimore man convicted of attempted murder had his sentencing postponed as requested by the prosecutor before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer.

Reginald McGowan pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and having drugs while in possession of a firearm on May 19. He is still charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, illegal possession of ammo, discharging firearms, and reckless endangerment in connection to an incident on Nov. 29, 2021.

According to court documents, officers with the Baltimore Police Department were called to the 1800 block of McHenry Street in the Riverside neighborhood around 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 29, 2021, in response to a shooting. The police were notified that there was an incident between two siblings where a man shot his sister.

When police arrived at the scene, officers went into a residence and found the victim with a gunshot wound to her right leg laying on a bed on the second floor.

The prosecutor informed the court that the defendant’s sentence will be concurrent to another sentence.

McGowan was represented by defense attorney Janet Andersen.

McGowan’s next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 3, 2023.
