On Aug. 5, an attempted murder defendant’s trial was scheduled for September due to the prosecutor needing more time.
Baltimore resident Andrew Abiola, 19, is charged with conspiracy to committing first-degree murder, first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, and reckless endangerment in connection to an incident on Thanksgiving Day in 2021.
The prosecutor and defense attorney, Natalie Finegar, agreed to a trial date for September because the prosecution needs more time to contact their witness.
According to a news release, on November 25, 2021 patrol officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Glenwood Avenue after 2 p.m. for a reported shooting. Officers found an 18-year-old man inside with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment.
Detectives learned that the shooting was a result of a dispute between Abiola and the victim, who was his family member.
Abiola’s trial will begin on Sept. 13. It is expected to last three days with Judge Laurence Fowler presiding.
