A 32-year-old man accused of attempted murder accepted the prosecution’s plea offer on June 22, the day the defendant was scheduled for a jury trial.

Defense attorney Warren Brown told Baltimore Witness on Wednesday that his client, Marcus Jones, agreed to the prosecution’s plea of 30 years, suspending all but 10 years, for attempted second-degree murder, and a consecutive 10 years for firearm use during a felony violent crime.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge John S. Nugent presided over Wednesday’s proceedings.

Jones was originally charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and six weapons charges in connection to an incident on Oct. 21, 2021.

The prosecution’s latest offer was reduced from a previous plea offer in April of life, suspending all but 35 years, and five years on probation for attempted first-degree murder, and a concurrent five years without parole for firearm use during a felony violent crime.
