A jury found defendant Gerrod Maddox guilty of firing a handgun but not guilty of attempted murder on June 10 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yvette Bryant.
Initially, Maddox was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, reckless endangerment, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun on his person, and discharging firearms.
Maddox received a sentence of time served, which equated to nearly a year and a half. He is also restricted from owning or possessing any firearms or ammunition.
CBS Baltimore reported that officers with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) arrested the 49-year-old for allegedly shooting a 32-year-old man outside the Forest Park Market in Northwest Baltimore on Jan. 13, 2021.
Detectives found video footage of the incident and later identified Maddox as a suspect.
