A Baltimore woman accused of attempted murder was released on home detention on June 14 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Philip S. Jackson.
Marn-Ya Doleman, 23, is charged with first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, and having a handgun on her person in connection to an incident on April 10.
During a bail hearing on Tuesday, Judge Jackson listened as the prosecutor informed the court that there was evidence that the victim, Doleman’s fiancée, could have potentially been the initial aggressor as there was some scrambling for the gun.
There was evidence that when the defendant got the gun, the victim ran out of the house. The prosecutor said the defendant told the victim to stop running or she would shoot and then shot the victim in the chest.
The defendant’s defense attorney, who recommended private home detention, argued that the victim was the owner of the firearm used in the incident and had been threatening the defendant’s family.
After listening to counsel, Judge Jackson released the defendant on electronic home monitoring.
The defendant’s next hearing is scheduled for June 21.
