A Baltimore man charged with homicide rejected a plea of 50 years, with five years of supervised probation, on March 29 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Alante Batson, 23, is charged with first-degree murder, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery in connection to an incident on Nov. 24, 2020.
On Tuesday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of life, suspending all but 50 years, with five years supervised probation for first-degree murder.
Batson and his defense attorney, Sharon Dubey, rejected the plea offer.
His trial is scheduled for Aug. 16 with Judge Cynthia H. Jones presiding.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Dionte Green was allegedly attacked by Batson and another man in front of the Downtown Mini Mart store at 15 N. Howard Street. The two men walked the victim to the 200 block of Lexington Street, where he was later found unresponsive by a passerby.
Green died on Dec. 2, 2020, after falling into a coma, and his cause of death was ruled as homicide by blunt force trauma.
