The case of an attempted murder defendant was not called during reception court on Feb. 8 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn

Joel Lewis, 47, is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, having a handgun on his person, discharging firearms, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and use of a firearm during a violent crime in connection to an incident on June 27, 2021.

According to CBS Baltimore, on June 27, 2021, at approximately 4:44 a.m. officers were called to the 1400 block of East Fayette Street for reports of shots being fired. They found a 48-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. 

The medics took the victim to an area hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said. 

According to Maryland’s Judiciary website, Lewis’ next hearing is not yet determined.
