Judge Postpones Trial for Manslaughter Defendant Until February

The trial for a Baltimore man accused of manslaughter was rescheduled to February due to a rise in COVID-19 cases on Jan. 27 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.

Omar Holt, 36 is charged with manslaughter with an automotive vehicle/boat, homicide with an automotive vehicle while intoxicated, negligent homicide with an automotive vehicle/boat along with drugs, negligent homicide with an automotive vehicle/boat, homicide with an automotive vehicle while under the influence, and six counts of traffic violations. 

Holt and his defense attorney, Robert Cole, rejected the initial plea offer of 10 years suspending all but seven years, with an additional year to be served concurrently for manslaughter and driving while under the influence on Aug. 9 2021. 

Holt is being held in custody.

His trial is scheduled for Feb. 10.
