A Baltimore man allegedly involved in a non-fatal shooting in May rejected a plea offer on Nov. 18 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn

The 31-year-old defendant is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm within Baltimore City, having a shotgun, having a loaded handgun on his person, carrying an unregistered shotgun, and having a handgun on his person in connection to an incident on May 16.

On Thursday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecution presented a plea of eight years, suspending all but time served, with three years supervised probation for two counts of second-degree assault and carrying an unregistered shotgun. Additionally, the defendant can have no contact with the victim.

The defendant and his defense attorney, Lawrence Rosenberg, rejected the plea. The defendant also maintained his Hick’s date, which is his right to be tried within 180 days of his first court appearance.

His trial is scheduled for April 20, 2022.
