A retrial date was set for a man convicted of a 2017 murder on Sept. 2 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
According to CBS Baltimore, Tryone Gerald White, 38, is serving a life sentence plus 35 years for the murder of Daniel Brinkley on Oct. 2, 2017. Brinkley was shot six times around 8:30 a.m. on the 1300 block of Myrtle Avenue.
A witness stated that White took items from the victim’s pockets before leaving the scene. Officers later recovered ammo, a speed loader, a brown coat, and black boots from a trashcan near White’s home, all of which corroborated the witness’ description.
White was arrested less than 24 hours after the shooting. Although he denied knowing Brinkley and provided an alibi, a journal belonging to White contained multiple threats of violence towards the victim.
White was convicted of first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, and firearm posession with a felony conviction.
A retrial is scheduled on March 1, 2022, with Judge Yolanda Tanner presiding.
White is also facing an additional 30 charges in another case, including sexual abuse against a minor and second-degree rape.
