Facing charges of first-degree murder, 19-year-old Tyron Taylor rejected a plea offer on Aug. 23 at the Baltimore City Circuit Court. Judge Melissa M. Phinn presided over the case.
Taylor, along with his co-defendant, Ky’Sean Hammond, were charged in connection to a shooting on July 17, 2020, on the 800 block of Low Street that left one man dead. Taylor is charged with two counts of first-degree murder as well as robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and firearm use in a violent crime.
The defendant was offered a plea of life, suspending all but 50 years, including five years probation. Taylor and his defense attorney, Judit Otvos, rejected the plea, and the former waived his Hicks’s date, a defendant’s right to trial within 180 days of their first court appearance.
Taylor’s trial is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
