Baltimore resident Alonzo Plenty was arrested on June 15 in connection a non-fatal shooting the day before.

The Baltimore Police Department notified the public one week later about the case.

According to a press release on June 22, officers responded to the corner of 2nd Street and Chesapeake Avenue for a traffic accident on June 14 at around 4:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found the driver of one of the vehicles with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The driver, a 33-year-old man, had crashed while trying to get to a hospital after being shot on the 900 block of E. Patapsco Avenue.

A description of the suspect was given to officers, who then located him nearby on the 300 block of Brooklyn Avenue.

Officers conducted a warrant check on Plenty and learned that he was wanted for escaping police custody in Virginia. They also confirmed that he had shot the driver.

After being taken into custody, Plenty was transported to central booking, where he was charged with attempted first-degree murder.

He also faces charges of conspiracy of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a violent crime, having a loaded handgun on his person, and discharging a firearm.

Plenty is being held in central booking without bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 15 in Baltimore City District Court, about two blocks away from the shooting.
