A non-fatal shooting case that was delayed over scheduling conflicts was set for jury selection on Sept. 1 following a reception court hearing before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland.
Aaron Mills, 43, appeared with his attorney Avrohom Greenfield, following a postponement of the case which was scheduled for the previous day. Greenfield, who was engaged in another matter, urged Judge Copeland to get the Mills’ case moving since it was at “risk for delay” given that older proceedings were under way.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor was concerned about the availability of her witnesses, including two police officers and a DNA analyst.
Mills is charged with two counts each of first-degree assault and use of a firearm in a crime of violence, as well as second-degree assault, assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and multiple other firearm and drug distribution-related offenses. The charges stem from a Dec. 28, 2025 shooting after an argument at a bar on the 6000 block of Belair Road.
Agreeing with Greenfield, Judge Copeland said jurors were immediately available to hear the case which she assigned to Judge Althea H. Handy.
The proceeding is expected to last four days.
