Antonio Douglas Acquitted on all Charges After Two-Day Bench Trial

A Baltimore City Circuit Court judge found Antonio Douglas not guilty Wednesday of all charges on July 15 stemming from a 2025 shooting on East Lafayette Avenue, concluding a two-day bench trial.

Douglas, 31, was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, reckless endangerment, wearing, carrying or transporting a handgun, and an additional handgun-related offense.

Judge Barry Williams acquitted Douglas on all counts.

The charges stemmed from a Nov. 7, 2025, dispute in the 2400 block of East Lafayette Avenue. The prosecutor alleged Douglas confronted a man at the location, a verbal altercation followed, and Douglas reportedly fired multiple shots as the man attempted to drive away. A child was inside the vehicle during the incident. Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert recovered four .380-caliber shell casings near the scene.

During the trial, the state presented surveillance footage from a nearby doorbell camera, crime scene photographs, recovered shell casings, and a recorded police interview with Douglas. The defense argued investigators never recovered the firearm allegedly used in the shooting, no witness directly identified Douglas as the shooter, and the surveillance footage was too grainy to conclusively identify the individual depicted.

After considering the evidence presented during the bench trial, Williams found Douglas not guilty on all counts, bringing the case to a close.
