Jury Reviews Extensive Video and Photo Evidence During McEachern Trial

Jurors in the case of 24-year-old Gerald McEachern spent the morning of Feb. 27 watching video footage and passing around photographic evidence as the West Baltimore murder trial continued before Judge Barry G. Williams in Baltimore City Circuit Court.

McEachern has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first degree murder and single counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy, and possession of a firearm by a convicted criminal, which stem from the March 9, 2025 fatal shooting of 19-year-old Rasheed Lindsey.

A sergeant from the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) homicide unit testified about a search and seizure warrant executed at McEachern’s address on the 400 block of Cummings Court. Body-worn camera footage showed officers moving through apartment units of the McCulloh Homes property and allegedly recovering several firearms. Jurors were shown photographs of the recovered weapons.

The prosecution later explained that Lindsey died after being shot multiple times, which medical examiners confirmed as a homicide during his autopsy.

Defense attorney Natalie Finegar questioned officers’ investigative procedures emphasizing that recovered cellphone and social media data only covered a three-day period, and expressed doubt that the timeframe provided sufficient proof of McEachern’s guilt.

One detective later told jurors he delayed responding to the scene because the shooting was initially classified as non-fatal. The homicide unit only became involved after Lindsey succumbed to his injuries, the detective said, and investigators only returned to the scene the following day.

According to the detective, investigators had to work quickly to collect evidence due to dark and rainy weather conditions. . Finegar questioned the likelihood that evidence had been “washed away” by the rain, or missed in the “darkness” by the initial response team, but the detective insisted on the thoroughness of the investigation.

The trial is set to conclude closing arguments.
