Jury selection began on Jan. 29 in the trial of Dalen Daqwon Randall, a 24-year-old man who faces attempted murder and firearm charges in connection to a shooting that occurred last summer in southwest Baltimore.
Court documents note that on June 5, 2025, Randall allegedly shot the victim twice while on the 2800 block of Edmondson Avenue. The defendant had been upset over the victim’s use of a witness’ car, and could be heard in recovered video footage stating his intention to retrieve it. Shortly after, he approached the victim and. reportedly shot him.
The victim suffered injuries to the right side of his body, and was treated at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, Baltimore County.
Randall previously rejected the state’s plea deal of a life sentence, suspending all but 40 years. The terms included three years of supervised probation and a concurrent five years without parole.
Sixty potential jurors stood before Judge Anthony F. Vittoria Friday morning awaiting lawyers questions about their objectivity.
The trial is set to conclude on Feb. 2.
