Sentencing Postponed For 1 of 3 Co-Defendants in Fatal Federal Hill Shooting

Sentencing was postponed on Dec. 3 for Alexis Cancel-Soto, one of three co-defendants in the Federal Hill murder of 19-year-old Cameran Holt, on October 27, 2024 after Cancel-Soto was not transported to court.

Cancel-Soto, 21, was convicted mid-September of first-degree murder in connection to Holt’s death. The jury also found him guilty of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder through transferred intent, attempted first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, and other gun violations—totalling eight convictions from his initial 10 charges.

Prosecutors told jurors that Holt, her sister, and friends went to Federal Hill for a night out when a dispute broke out between Cancel-Soto, another man, and several others. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Cancel-Soto’s group pulling on face masks, brandishing firearms, including a Draco pistol, and opening fire. Holt was in her vehicle near the intersection of Biddle Street and a 7-Eleven when she was shot.

Cancel-Soto later admitted to shooting five of the rounds exchanged, which exceeded 40. Cancel-Soto told prosecutors he was unsure who fired first.

Co-defendants Daeshaun Clark, 28, and Devontaye Richardson, 30, were also charged with the shooting, though Richardson was acquitted of all counts but reckless endangerment.
Cancel-Soto joined the hearing via Zoom after he was not transported to court, and Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Nicole K. Barmore and attorneys ultimately agreed to postpone his sentencing hearing until Feb. 23, 2026.
