A 33-year-old Baltimore man pleaded guilty to firearm possession as a prohibited person on Nov. 3, accepting a plea deal of 15 years, suspending all but three, with two years of probation and a no contact order with the victim.
Robert Summerville was charged with possession of a rifle and ammunition after being previously convicted of a disqualifying crime. These charges were related to a March 25 shooting that occurred on the 2400 block of W. Cold Spring Lane, in which Summerville allegedly drove behind the victim’s house and discharged several rounds at her vehicle with an assault rifle-style firearm.
The victim, a previous friend of Summerville’s, reportedly recognized the silver 2014 Hyundai Sonata the defendant drove as belonging to his girlfriend, which was distinct due to its black driver’s side door. A detective later confirmed through the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) that the vehicle was registered to Summerville’s girlfriend.
After the incident, officers located the silver Hyundai parked outside Summerville’s residence and arrested him. Upon searching his house, investigators found a rifle in the master bedroom, laying on a pile of clothes.
Further investigation revealed a previous police report from 2023 that documented Summerville’s felony second-degree assault charge, which disqualified him from owning a firearm.
Summerville pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and was sentenced to 15 years, suspending all but three, by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gregory Sampson.
As the hearing closed, the victim took a moment to address Summerville, “I literally wish I never met you, and I wish that you’d stay far away from me”.
