Trial Continues in Father-Son Attempted Murder Case

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Paul Cucuzzella oversaw the trial of a Baltimore man accused of attempting to kill a 28-year-old pregnant woman during an escalating dispute that occurred last October in East Baltimore’s Belair-Edison neighborhood..

Travis Braxton, 23, is charged with 11 counts, including attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, home invasion, and firearm use in a felony crime of violence in connection to the incident, which occurred Oct. 13, 2024 at the victim’s residence on the 4300 block of Sheldon Avenue.

During the Oct. 22 hearing, a special investigator testified that when police arrived, they found the victim’s home’s front door kicked in, blood on the floor, bullet holes leading up the staircase, and a broken window. Emergency personnel were already at the scene treating the victim, who was later interviewed at the hospital.

Thar questioning along with evidence at the scene caused the special investigator to obtain a search warrant for the Braxton residence. Police reportedly found ammunition and narcotics, leading to the arrest of Braxton’s father, Larry Braxton, 44, who also has similar charges.

In an interview with detectives, Travis allegedly admitted he was at the scene during the altercation. He said the victim began yelling and threw a brick at his screen door, breaking it. Braxton reportedly said he then used a baseball bat to break her window and kick in her door. Moments later, he said, gunshots rang out, and he ran away. Braxton eventually identified his father as the shooter, according to testimony.

During cross-examination defense attorney Avrohom Greenfield revealed that no firearm was recovered and no DNA or fingerprints linked to Travis were recovered. The detective also noted that Braxton appeared emotionally troubled when discussing his father being the shooter.

Testimony will continue before Judge Cucuzzella on Oct 23.
