A motion hearing to join the attempted murder trials of Javon Brown, 21, and co-defendant Michael Yerby, 20, was scheduled on Aug. 8 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland.

Brown is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and other related handgun charges in connection to a non-fatal shooting that occurred Apr. 15 on the 1800 block of W. Pratt Street.

According to charging documents, a uniformed patrol officer responded to the 1800 block of W. Pratt Street after hearing gunshots.

Upon arrival, the officer saw two individuals running northbound on S. Fulton Avenue from the 1800 block of W. Pratt Street. They were later identified as the victim and Brown. The officer reported that Brown appeared to be chasing the victim.

When Brown spotted the officer, he allegedly ran towards a black Chrysler Town and Country van and dove through the front passenger window. The van left the scene by reversing on S. Fulton Avenue and heading eastbound on W. Pratt Street.

Another officer intercepted the vehicle, which crashed into a fence at the 800 block of Boyd Street. Three individuals exited the van, including Brown, who was allegedly holding a firearm. Brown was apprehended shortly thereafter in the 800 block of W. Lombard Street.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and left shoulder.

Brown’s next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 5 before Judge Nicole K. Barmore.
