Man Charged With Murder, Criminal Conspiracy Receives December Trial Date

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled 27-year-old Phillip Morton’s criminal conspiracy trial for mid-December during a reception court hearing on Aug. 8.

Morton is facing 38 charges, including one count each of conspiracy, first-degree murder and armed robbery, seven counts of reckless endangerment, five counts each of first- and second-degree assault, three counts of robbery, and several other related handgun charges concerning a criminal conspiracy that began in Baltimore City on June 6, 2019 and lasted until Sept. 17, 2019.

The following events are alleged to have involved Morton: 

Two victims were injured in a robbery on June 17, 2019, on the 1400 block of East Cold Spring Lane.

One victim was injured in an armed carjacking on July 2, 2019, near the 5600 block of Loch Raven Boulevard. 

Travis Chance, 16, was shot and killed on July 11, 2019, in the 5600 block of The Alameda. Two other victims were injured.

Morton was arrested on June 23. His eight-day trial is scheduled to begin on Dec. 17.
