Jason Williams, one of 10 individuals charged in a September 2024 Belair Road drug bust case, is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on May 28 and a likely trial date in early fall. He appeared briefly before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on May 13 for the scheduling matter.
Williams, 37, is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, firearm possession with a prior felony conviction, and having a handgun on his person in connection to the Nov. 3, 2024 fatal shooting of Solomon Wise, 58, in the 4200 block of Sheldon Avenue.
Williams is said to belong to a drug trafficking organization called “4200” which allegedly sold cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl out of the 4300 block of Belair Road and the 4200 block of Nicholas Avenue.
Related search and seizure warrants were executed at eight locations, and evidence recovered included an AR-style rifle, an extended magazine, a large amount of ammunition, 200 grams of heroin or fentanyl, and 120 grams of cocaine.
“We know that drug trafficking and illegal firearms are closely associated with acts of violence [and those responsible] will face the consequences,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott in a press release last September announcing the indictment of ten individuals in the case.
Due to difficulties getting witnesses, defense attorney Jerry Rodriguez and the prosecution requested a three-day jury trial to begin on Sept. 2. Howver, parties will likely nail down the calendar at the next heaing.
