Trial Date Set For Fells Point Attempted Murder Suspect

A reception court hearing was held on Oct. 20 before Judge Melissa Copeland in the case of Da’yawn Ford, 19, who is charged with multiple counts of first- and second-degree attempted murder, assault, and various firearm violations in connection with a June 6, 2025 shooting on the 800 block of S. Broadway Street. The exact number of victims is unknown.

According to charging documents, police located an 18-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to her left arm. Shortly after she was transported to a nearby hospital, another victim walked into the facility with a gunshot wound to his right arm. He told officers he was shot in the Fells Point neighborhood.

Officers recovered projectiles, four bottles, and a black hoodie on S. Broadway street, 21 9mm shell casings were recovered at Thames Street.

CitiWatch footage recovered during the investigation allegedly captured a Black male wearing a white tank top and black pants being assaulted by four or five other Black males.

Prior to the shooting, a witness allegedly saw a group of unidentified males jump another male and moments later heard gunshots. The witness informed officers that this incident involved recent graduates of Forest Park High School.

Detectives then accessed the 2025 Forest Park High School graduation video on YouTube and were reportedly able to match the suspect description to Da’Yawn Ford with the help of school officials. An officer from Baltimore County also identified the suspect seen in video footage as matching Ford from his involvement in a 2023 incident.

The prosecutor asked the judge for a postponement due being in another ongoing trial and was assigned this case five days ago so she needs time to prepare. Defense attorney Judit Otvos agreed to the postponement, adding that he still has additional discovery to review..

The trial is set for Jan. 5, before Judge Lawrence Fletcher-Hill.
