Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry G. William approved an privately presented motion filed by the prosecution to summon a crucial witness in 31-year-old Devonte Lassiter’s attempted murder trial on April 7. The action means the second major delay for Lassiter, whose trial will remain on hold until the prosecution successfully contacts their witness.
Lassiter faces ten charges, including attempted first- and second-degree murder and assault, reckless endangerment, and several firearms charges in connection to a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred June 8, 2024 near the intersection of South Broadway and Thames Street. The incident left a teenage girl, then 16, with two gunshot wounds to her wrist.
The prosecution previously objected to a postponement on Feb. 25 after Lassiter’s case initially ended in a mistrial, citing witness availability for later trial dates.
The court has yet to reset a trial date.
