Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin indefinitely postponed 24-year-old Javon Hines’ mental health observation hearing on Feb. 26 pending admission to a hospital.
Hines is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, using a firearm in a felony or violent crime, and discharging a handgun in Baltimore City in relation to a non-fatal shooting that occurred on Oct. 21, 2022.
According to a Hagerstown Police Department (HPD) press release, Hines was previously arrested in connection to the Nov. 17, 2022 murder of 40-year-old Elise Wars and her 4-year-old daughter, Khori Ashton at an APM Inn and Suites located in Hagerstown. He pleaded guilty to the crime but was found not criminally responsible last June according to a local media report.
According to charging documents, Hines was found to be in possession of a Glock 48 pistol allegedly used to commit the double homicide. Ballistic analysis revealed that was the likely the same handgun used in Baltimore shooting.
Hines is represented by defense attorney Sharon Bogins.
