Dustin Jackson, 31, entered what’s known as an Alford plea in relation to the non-fatal shooting of 31-year-old Joseph Oglesby that occurred on July 29, 2024. The action enables him to plead guilty but still claim he’s innocent.

According to charging documents, witnesses positively identified a photograph of Jackson as the suspect who entered a residence in the 500 block of South Wickham Street and argued with a resident. After gunshots were heard, Jackson immediately fled the area in a white Acura and Oglesby suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds.

Jackson was initially charged with first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, affray, reckless endangerment, firearm possession in a crime of violence with a felony conviction, illegal possession of ammo, having a loaded handgun in his vehicle and discharging a firearm.

Alongside defense attorney Andrea Jaskulsky, Jackson entered an Alford plea on Feb. 5 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge John A. Howard.

Jackson was sentenced to two years, suspending all but time served of five months and 21 days, for the charge of firearm possession in a crime of violence with a felony conviction. He was also sentenced to a concurrent suspended year and mandatory gun offender registry for the charge of having a loaded handgun in his vehicle.
