Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K Copeland rescheduled the trial of 34-year-old homicide defendant Jytarous Evans on Jan. 29 due to the lack of an available defense attorney.
Evans is charged with attempted first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, transporting and carrying a gun, illegal possession of ammunition and discharging a gun in connection to an Aug. 27, 2023 incident.
The court appointed Mathew Connell as his defense attorney. Evans is scheduled to reappear before Judge Martin Schreiber II for a jury trial on April 28.
