A 32-year-old Baltimore woman was sentenced to time served for an assault resulting in a gunshot at the victim’s apartment in Central Park Heights last March.

Kenyotta Wedington and her defense attorney, Robert Cole, appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Cynthia H. Jones on Jan. 16 to move forward with a plea agreement reached between the prosecution and the defense. The defendant pleaded guilty to second-degree assault for a sentence of six years, suspending all but time served, and three years of supervised probation.

Wedington is also required to stay away from the victim and pay $1,100 in restitution.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Wedington served two days for the assault prior to her plea agreement.

Cole told Judge Jones that his client “truly regrets what had happened.”

On March 4, 2024, the female victim went to check on her friend who lived in her apartment building on the 2300 block of Manchester Avenue. When she reached her friend’s apartment, the victim saw Wedington and another woman and a fight ensued.

“‘I don’t fight b-tches, I shoot, b-tches,’” the prosecutor said, quoting Wedington’s words to the victim.

During the fight, a gun was fired, damaging the window of an apartment. The prosecutor said the defendant and the other woman also smashed the front and back windshields of the victim’s vehicle.

The prosecution said Wedington and the victim had only met recently once before through a friend.
