Attorney General to Release Bodycam Footage of Fatal Police Shooting

A press release from the Office of the Maryland Attorney General (OAG) stated the office is investigating a fatal police shooting in west Baltimore’s Upton neighborhood Oct. 9. Baltimore Police Department officers’ body-worn cameras recorded the incident, where three officers shot a suspect involved in a vehicle crash.

The suspect had been sitting on a curb near the site of the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue accident, where he allegedly crashed into a parked car. Though previously compliant, the suspect ran away from police and into a wooded area at the intersection of Argyle Avenue and Pitcher Street. When instructed to show his hands by three BPD officers, the release claims the suspect showed a gun instead. All three officers then discharged their service weapons, hitting the suspect. Medics pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

The OAG’s Independent Investigations Division plans on releasing the victim’s name, the names of the officers involved and footage of the shooting to the public, but did not state a specific date in the press release.
