A 22-year-old Anne Arundel County man was sentenced to five years in prison on Sept. 20 for having a handgun at the scene of a fight in Fort Armistead Park which resulted in two women being shot in March 2023.

Alonzo Lindsey, of Glen Burnie, Md., was acquitted July 15 of 40 out of the 58 charges he faced in Baltimore City Circuit Court, including five counts of attempted first- and second-degree murder, as well as other violent crimes and conspiracies. However, the jury found him guilty of having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, firearm possession with a felony conviction and illegal possession of ammunition.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Judge Troy K. Hill sentenced Lindsey to nine months and seven days for having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle and illegal possession of ammunition. For firearm possession with a felony conviction, Lindsey will serve 15 years, suspending all but five years, with three years of supervised probation.

At trial, defense attorney Koryn High claimed her client was being implicated by a “puppet master,” his friend Ayeshia Holland, who brought him to the fight on the 4000 block of Fort Armistead Road on March 21, 2023.

Holland pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree assault for her involvement in the fight in December 2023.
