On Aug. 31, a homicide defendant had his trial scheduled for January 2023 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn

Donte Brown, 40, is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use during a felony violent crime, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, and two counts of possessing a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to an incident on March 5, 2021.

The prosecutor offered a life plea, suspending all but 60 years with the first five years without parole for first-degree murder; 20 years for the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime. 

Brown and his defense attorney Natalie Finegar, rejected the plea.

Brown’s trial was postponed in early August due to the prosecutor contracting COVID-19. 

The new date for Brown’s trial is scheduled for Jan. 24, 2023.
