25-Year-Old Baltimore Man Fatally Shoots Roommate Over Dispute

A Baltimore man accused of murder rejected a plea offer of life plus 20 years on Jan. 5 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn

Jonathan Bowman, 25, is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a violent crime, and having a handgun on his person in connection to an incident on April 24, 2021.

On Wednesday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of life for first-degree murder and 20 years for use of a firearm in a violent crime. The charges are set to run consecutively.

Bowman and his defense attorney, Koryn High, rejected the plea offer.

According to the Baltimore Sun, at approximately 8:28 a.m., officers were called to the 3400 block of Fairview Avenue where they found 25-year-old Demetris Henry.

Henry was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he later died.

Witnesses at the apartment complex told the police that Bowman shot the victim, who was his roommate, during a verbal dispute.

Bowman’s trial is scheduled for June 7.
