Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland reset a 21-year-old attempted murder defendant’s trial date in early May after the defendant declined a plea offer.
Jonathan Felipe Lopez, 21, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of firearm use during a felony violent crime. He is also charged with reckless endangerment, discharge of a firearm, and first-degree assault.
For the charge of attempted first-degree murder, the prosecution offered Lopez a plea deal of life, suspending all but 25 years, and five years of supervised parole. The deal also included 20 consecutive years, the first five without possibility of parole, for the charge of using a firearm in a felony violent crime.
Lopez’s trial will start on May 2.
