A Baltimore man accused of manslaughter rejected a plea offer for 10 years in prison on Jan. 10 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Schiffer

Robert Carter, 21, is charged with neglected vehicular manslaughter, automotive/boat manslaughter, and two counts of traffic violation in connection to an incident on July 29, 2021. 

On Monday, Judge Schiffer listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of 10 years for automotive/boat manslaughter. 

Carter and his defense attorney, Warren Brown, rejected the plea offer. In addition, Carter decided to waive his Hicks’ date, which is his right to be tried within 180 days of his or his attorney’s first court appearance. 

Carter’s trial is scheduled for Aug. 2.
