On Dec. 6,  non-fatal shooting defendant Daquan Maliek Allen received a new plea hearing date.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Allen, 24, is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of robbery, two counts each of first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, discharging a firearm, firearm possession with a felony conviction and illegal possession of ammunition in connection to a April 24, 2022, incident.

Bradley Macfee was present in the courtroom, whereas his client was not. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge M. Brooke Murdock sent the case to reception court for a postponement.

Judge Melissa M. Phinn presided via Zoom. Although Allen wasn’t present, he was able to join the hearing remotely. The reason for the postponement was that officials at the Eastern Correctional Institute weren’t able to transport Allen to court. According to Macfee, he reached out this morning and they told him they wouldn’t be able to transport Allen for another five days.

Judge Phinn set Jan. 8, 2024,  as Allen’s new plea hearing date before Judge Lawrence R. Daniels

Charging documents state that the incident occurred on the 2500 block of Eutaw Street. Allen is accused of pulling out a gun and threatening to shoot two victims during a robbery. Two shots were fired, but no one was injured. Baltimore Police Department investigators used the responding officer’s body-worn camera footage to identify Allen as the suspect.
