16-Year-Old Turns Himself in for the Murder of a 51-Year-Old Woman

A 16-year-old teenager has been arrested for the homicide of a 51-year-old woman on Feb. 23 in the early morning hours.

The Baltimore Police Department reported the arrest of a juvenile teen a month and one day after the incident occurred around 2:25 a.m. on the 3900 block of White Avenue, where they found Cheryl McCormack suffering from a gunshot wound following a botched robbery. 

The medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. 

Detectives interviewed potential witnesses, reviewed several area cameras, and were ultimately able to identify the shooter, said police.

Homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant.

On Feb. 23 at approximately 12:37 a.m., the 16-year-old suspect turned himself in at police headquarters, where he was read his Miranda Rights and transported to Central Booking.

The suspect has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and is currently waiting to see a court commissioner.
