Testimonies from the victim were presented on the second day of Bryan Cherry’s attempted murder trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gregory Sampson on June 24.
Cherry, 37, is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder and assault, and intended injury with a deadly weapon in connection to the June 26, 2024 East Baltimore Medical Center stabbing.
The victim, a college student, was reportedly dropping off food to a woman when he saw a man standing close to her. While leaving the building, the man allegedly stabbed the victim in the hand multiple times.
The attack left him in the hospital for five days, with lingering hand mobility issues.
The victim stated that the perpetrator was wearing a black shirt, cap and glasses, and that he appeared about 28 years old and 5 feet 10 inches tall.
Defense attorney Gregory Fischer rebutted by saying Cherry is 36 years old and therefore too old to be the perpetrator.
A Baltimore City Police Department (BPD) sergeant presented evidence from the crime scene, where a pair of scissors was found near blood and torn clothes. Investigators thought the scissors belonged to medics, and did not collect them as evidence. No weapon was recovered in this case.
The trial is ongoing.
