Two co-defendants who are accused of murdering a MTA bus driver pleaded guilty on May 3 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn Stewart Mays.
Nichelle Greene, 31, and Cameron Silcott, 25, are both charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a violent crime, armed robbery, and conspiracy to armed robbery in connection to an incident on Oct. 8, 2020 that resulted in the death of Marcus Parks.
During court proceedings on Tuesday, Judge Mays listened as Greene accepted a plea of guilty to life suspending all but 40 years with five years on supervised probation for first-degree felony murder.
Silcott pleaded guilty, accepting a plea of life for first-degree murder and 20 years for use of a firearm during a violent crime. The charges are set to run concurrently.
Greene’s defense attorney Tony Garcia informed the court that he requested for aninvestigation report to be done.
Silcott was represented by defense attorney Janine Meckler.
The victim’s nieces, older brother, sister and children delivered impact statements.
“My family has suffered so much, I lost my older brother in 2018, my mother in 2019, and now Marcus in 2020,” the victim’s sister told the judge during her impact statement. “We will be grieving for the rest of our lives. Silcott has no remorse, constantly looking over at my family while the prosecutor stated the facts of the case…give them the maximum sentence possible,” she implored the judge.
According to CBS Baltimore, on Oct. 8, 2020, around 10 a.m. Silcott and Greene shot Marcus Parks Sr. on the 1200 block of East Fayette Street after they began arguing with Parks over a bus payment before grabbing his backpack and running off the bus. Parks was chasing them down E. Fayette Street when Silcott pulled out a handgun and shot Parks multiple times. Parks was shot a total of 10 times with three bullets in his head by SIlcott.
“On my birthday my sister called to wish me a happy birthday, then moments later she called me back to tell me that Marcus was shot,” the victim’s brother said during his statement. “That day was supposed to be a celebration, but it was not.”
Greene’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Aug. 10.
Silcott’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 5.
