Trial Date Set for Father Accused of Killing Son by Intoxication

On Feb. 12, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled the trial of a 30-year-old father accused of killing his young son by intoxication.

Andre Jackson, Sr. is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in the death of a child under 13, first-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury and  second-degree child abuse by a custodian in connection to the death of 1-year-old Andre Jackson, Jr. in Februrary 2023. 

The prosecutor did not yet have a plea offer for Jackson, Sr., but said he and defense attorney Isaac Klein were still in conversation regarding a potential resolution.

“It’s a complicated case,” the prosecutor said, indicating to the court there will be two expert witnesses and toxicology reports.

Judge Copeland scheduled the three-day trial to begin on May 7 before Judge Melissa M. Phinn

According to a Baltimore Police Department press release, Jackson, Jr. was found unresponsive in the family home on the 7100 block of McClean Boulevard on Feb. 25, 2023. His death was ruled a homicide by intoxication on May 30, 2023.
