On Tuesday, Feb. 27, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Erik S. Atas heard the case of 18-year-old Calvin Sanders. Represented by defense attorney Sarah West, Sanders pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm as a minor.
Sanders was charged with possession of a firearm as a minor, as well as having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person and firing and discharging a gun. Once detained, police allegedly found a loaded gun near the scene that closely matched the shell casings from the suspect’s gun.
The charges stem from a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred on Oct. 13, 2023, on Chandler Avenue, when Sanders’ foster mother reported hearing shots fired at her home. Sanders will serve one year, three years of supervised probation and will have to register as a gun offender. No victims were identified.
