HBO’s ‘Charm City Kings’ Actress’ Trial Postponed Due to New Prosecutor

On March 20, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn postponed the hearing of a murder defendant known for their role in the HBO series "Charm City Kings." Defendant Lakeyria Doughty is facing charges of first-degree murder and the use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure in connection to the murder of her girlfriend, 33- year-old Tiffany Wilson, on New Year’s Day in 2021.  Doughty, 28, had a mistrial in June 2022 because there was evidence of both women fighting, corroborating Doughty’s story of the night.  During Monday’s heading the prosecution asked Judge Phinn for more time to prepare the case because the original prosecutor recently left the State’s Attorney’s Office. Judge Declares Mistrial in Former HBO Actress Murder Trial

After three days of an ongoing trial with counsel presenting evidence and witnesses giving emotional testimony, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gregory Sampson declared a mistrial in the murder trial of former HBO movie actress Lakeyria Doughty due to a hung jury on June 24.  Despite testimony from Doughty herself and lengthy closing arguments on the final day of proceedings, the jury was unable to come to a verdict in a case with lots of complexity.  During Doughty’s testimony, her reliability was questioned when she took the stand, admitting to lying to both investigators and family several times about the incident.  Doughty testified that she lied because she was trying to protect her girlfriend, the victim, Tiffany Wilson.
