On Jan. 10, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a trial for the defendant accused of killing 29-year-old Andrew Smith, a little more than a year after his tragic death.

Defendant Preston Feaster and his defense counsel Brandon Mead were not offered a plea on Tuesday.

Feaster, 32, is charged with first-degree murder, the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun on his person, three counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and possession of a rifle or shotgun with a mental disorder in connection to an incident on June 2, 2022.

According to court documents, on the day of the incident officers were called to the 4200 block of Saint Georges Lane for reports of shooting. On arrival, officers found the Smith suffering from a gunshot to his torso.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics.

Feaster’s trial is scheduled for June 21 with Judge Althea Handy presiding. It is expected to last three to four days.
