In reference to the triple shooting that occurred on Oct. 27, on the 2200 block of Presstman Street at Carver High School, investigators have charged two 15-year-old males, both of whom were shot during the incident.

At approximately 7:50 a.m., a 15-year-old male was transported to Carver High School by his mother and father in order to assault an unidentified person. Both the parents and the 15-year-old participated in the assault, during which the 15-year-old pistol-whipped the unidentified victim.

As the 15-year-old fled from the assault, he encountered a 15-year-old Carver student at the front of the school, where a verbal altercation ensued. The assault suspect and the Carver student both produced handguns and began shooting. During that exchange, both 15-year-olds and an uninvolved 16-year-old Carver student were struck. A third Carver student then retrieved one of the firearms used in the incident and fled from the area.

After an extensive and thorough investigation by members of the Western District, all five persons involved in this incident (the two 15-year-olds, the student that retrieved the weapon and the parents) have been identified and taken into police custody.

Currently, both 15-year-old males remain in police custody at an area hospital and are listed in stable condition. The 16-year-old student has been released from the hospital.

Once released from the hospital, the two 15-year-old males will be charged as adults with various charges to include attempted murder and handgun violations.

Investigators have also taken into custody both parents of one of the suspects, who were present at the time of the original assault. Charges for the parents are currently pending.

“I want to thank the members of the Baltimore Police Department and School Police for their hard work and dedication in quickly identifying and charging those responsible for this senseless act of violence,” said Police Commissioner Richard Worley.

“Our department will continue to work to diligently in removing illegal guns off our streets and in the hands of our young people. This must be an all hands-on-deck approach to reduce violence amongst our young people, while also holding those responsible for violence in our city.”

“This morning’s shooting rocked the Carver community. I commend the swift and diligent action of the Baltimore Police Department,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott.

“This is a despicable example of parents facilitating the escalation of everyday conflict between young people into reckless gun violence endangering innocent lives. We cannot tolerate this. My hope is that those responsible for this incident, including the parents, will be brought to justice.”
